PADI Open Water Diver Course

PADI® Open Water Diver is the first scuba certification level. Our highly-trained PADI Instructor will teach you how to scuba dive in a relaxed, supportive learning environment.

Academic
You'll start your course by enrolling in the PADI eLearning. This highly engaging and exciting program will teach the basics you will need to learn to start diving. Upon completion of the eLearning, you will have a classroom session, where we will go over the basic safety concepts, learn the dive tables and take a Quick Review quiz. We'll finish up the classroom session with learning how to properly set up your equipment.
We'll head to the pool next, to complete five confined water dives. You will learn the basic skills you will need to start diving.
To finish up your course, you'll head to the open water. You'll complete four open water dives over two days to earn the prestigious PADI Open Water Diver rating.

Equipment
The only equipment you will need to start your adventure is a mask, snorkel, boots and fins. We highly recommend that you have your own scuba equipment, but we will be supplying it for your course.

Getting Started
To enroll, all you have to do is decide on a date, complete the registration form and submit it to the store staff. We will assist you with enrolling in your eLearning course and go over the logistics of your course.

Advanced Snorkeling

Skin diving is snorkeling while making breath-hold dives to observe aquatic life, up close and personal. It's a wonderful way to explore the underwater world when you're not able to scuba dive or if scuba diving just isn't your thing. The PADI Advanced Snorkeling (Skin Diver) course teaches you how to enjoy watching life below the surface and comfortably venture underwater for short visits. Whether you dive in a local freshwater lake or the big blue ocean, at home or on holiday at a dive destination, this allows you the opportunity to explore the underwater water.

Academic
The PADI Advanced Snorkeling (Skin Diver) course goes beyond what you learned in your Discover Snorkeling course. You'll learn about techniques to surface dives with ease; what the mammalian diving reflex is all about; how to get more time underwater on a single breath. We will cover the differences between a regular mask and a free diving mask, as well as how to choose, adjust and use equipment designed for skin diving. You'll also learn the basic safety guidelines for being in and around the water. We will cover advanced snorkeling and skin-diving techniques including checking buoyancy, surface swimming, clearing water from your snorkel and performing effortless surface dives. You will be offered the opportunity to go on an optional skin dive at a local dive site.

Equipment

You will need your own basic snorkeling equipment including a mask, snorkel, fins, snorkeling vest, exposure protection like a wet suit and dive weights if needed.

Getting Started
To enroll in a PADI Advanced Snorkeling (Skin Diver) course, you must be at least 8 years old. You need adequate swimming skills and comfort in the water. No prior experience is required. To enroll in our next course, check the Calendar page and complete the registration form. Then either email it or drop it off at the store, so we can schedule your class. Don't forget to ask your instructor about the PADI
Discover the Underwater World DVD and companion piece - The Snorkeler's Field Guide. Although not required for the course, the video has terrific tips that will come in handy when you hit the water and the field guide covers different underwater environments along with common aquatic life.
